As always, the President remains laser focused on the important things…

Since almost all of it is Executive Orders, it literally can all be made null and void with a single EO from the next president.

Every president has redecorated the Oval Office. Including trump. None of them have demanded that their decor choice not be touched after they leave. Except trump.

But to be honest, I’m just surprised he’s talking about leaving.

He won’t be leaving voluntarily. He’s not building that ballroom and golf course for the next guy. He was talking about after he’s dead. He’s starting to focus on his “Legacy,” which he thinks he can save, even though he is already tightly ensconced as the worst president of all time, by a long ways.

It’s not even close. The next worse president you could point to is maybe Nixon? And while Nixon was not a good guy, Trump makes him look like an upstanding citizen.

Jackson and Wilson were much worse than, and set the stage for, Nixon.

Jackson caused the single deepest, (by percentages, not dollar value because there were a lot fewer dollars back then,) longest, and worst depression in US history, while also overseeing multiple genocides. (Trail of Tears, The Long Walk, etc.)

Wilson on the other hand increased the power of the presidency to a tryannical degree, passed the Insurrection and Sedition Act of 1913, authored and pushed Southern Revisionism, segregated the Federal Government for the first time in history, and that’s just some of the stuff he did here at home, much less instituting Wilsonian Doctrine, which is what changed the US into “The Defenders of Democracy™.”

That being said, I don’t think Trump was worse than Jackson or Wilson, but damn is he trying.

I remember an idle conversation back in 2015 when I compared trump to Jackson, and the guy I was talking to was like “wasn’t Jackson the worst president ever?”

I remember a early internet web app that let you customize the oval office decor like a president, choosing from pictures, statues, desks, etc. that the white house has collected over the years from previous presidents and and gifts given to them, and it gave the items history and whatnot. It is such a common part of entering the office that there was a browser game in the 90’s about it.

Next president who’s not a fascist:

executive order: literally every executive order orangeboi made is now null and void. We can do it this way, or the pedantic way. I have a printer, and all you will accomplish is wasting a single day of my time.

Edit: honestly I would absolutely love it if that was the verbatim wording of the EO that accomplishes this.

the proclamation would ensure the West Wing rooms would not be “touched by anybody, destroyed, ripped down by stupid people, in order to build something in a slightly different shape”.

the irony isn’t lost on me - it’s always projection with incompetent fools

I don’t think gold in and of itself is ugly. Looks great as trim on walnut or other dark-stained wood, like on a fancy pen case, maybe a cigar box.

Then again, it’s all a matter of personal preference.

        Everything in moderation.

Gold makes a nice accent, when used sparingly; covering everything in gold to make it look expensive has the total opposite effect.

The next occupant of that room regardless of political affiliation is going to gut it. Same for all the other gaudy, marble & gold painted shit Trump wasted taxpayer money on

Yeah, how he thinks that a proclamation locks the hands of the next president is beyond me. I mean what’s anybody going to do when the next president puts it back to what it was?

All that shit will be removed before the next president sets foot in the Oval Office for the first time. Between the Inauguration and his arrival, an army of construction guys are going to rip that shit down, and repair and paint everything. It will be like it was never there.

The best possible troll the newly elected Dems could do is pass a bill through house and senate saying that all traces of Trump’s remodelling will be removed from the White House starting Jan 2029 when the new Prez is in office, also every attempt to put his name on public monuments will also be removed. Make him veto it and KNOW before he dies that it’s all getting binned. With any luck the sheer fury he’ll build up will cause him to pop a blood vessel in his brain.

And they should also pass a law forbidding the naming of any Federal building or geographic feature after a living person.

Proclamation, hey? They should have a little room in the back, all white and gold, to show future tour groups how awful it actually looked in real life, what with the gold spray-painted plastic and all. You could occasionally present it on “Sense-o-rama!”. for the odourous authenticity.
