If they could run on smart home devices, we wouldn’t have all these lake boiling datacenters springing up everywhere…

Naaah. This is how they sell upgraded versions to the fools that are dumb enough to use it to begin with. Anyone with a brain has nothing to worry about.

I think all this dangerous nonsense is just a way of driving up stock prices. Because “dangerous” = “powerful” = money. Can’t think of any other reason they’d repeatedly be publicly declaring this shit.

Copying and pasting another comment I made recently about this.

The AI CEOs say shit like this as marketing. They want people to believe that

    1. Their product is very capable, so people are more likely to use it
    2. Their product is dangerous and “only they” know how to control it. They want to create regulations so that nobody else is allowed to make something “so dangerous” again.

Anthropic warns Anthropic AI model may escape Anthropic security, and go rogue, causing harm to everyone but Anthropic.

That’s not how these things work. They can’t magically spread without compute and shitty instructions don’t activate themselves without compute.

“Oh, no, not our centrally controlled agents. We keep them well-disciplined with impossible tasks. It’s those pesky obliterated open-weight models running amok due to lack of government regulation!

I translate this as Antropic is having its workers develop methods for their LLM to attack and infiltrate smart home devices.

The problem isn’t the software or AI

It’s the people and country behind it all. They’re the thieves who can’t stop their intrusiveness into our lives.

Just like they force their politics on us.
