Not sure where else to post this. This is my boy Balto (the full husky), who unfortunately passed away during an emergency surgery on Monday to correct a diaphragm hernia. I’m going to miss him forever.

Aw man, Monday, you’re still in the first week of that. Here’s a hug. Won’t help with the pain, it gets better though.

There’s the rub. Indoor cats live an average of 17 years, whereas outdoor cats only live an average of 2-5.

I’ve seen cats mauled to death by coyotes, picked apart by owls, with their faces skinned off by people, hit by cars, etc. In fact, my co-worker’s dog just mauled a cat that got into their yard last weekend. The cat had its leg hanging by a tendon. It died, but only after 4 hours of tremendous suffering. It sounds like your kitty got lucky just eating something that was poisonous.

I’d personally take this as a blessing, and rethink things for your cat’s sake.

This is Queen Isabella Greychunk. She lets some of us peasants call her Izzy.

She’s more of a retiree that eats tuna, plays bridge and has a favorite comfy blankie. She’s a 16 year old house cat that’s getting kinda creaky and doesn’t like reaching back to wash below her rib cage anymore. But she purrs at me at least 3 hours a day, which is nice. She’s purring at me as I type this.

She’s also the second greyest creature I’ve ever seen. When I was in high school, a girl name Sheila brought in this Chow dog that had grey eyes, a grey tongue…I think if you cut that dog, it would have bled grey. My cat has yellow eyes, purple beans and a pink tongue. She’s technicolor compared to Sheila’s dog.

I asked Sheila out senior year. She turned me down but in a perfectly nice way, like she treated being asked out by a nerd like me as a perfectly reasonable thing to happen, which if anything was a boost to my self-esteem. Like she didn’t try to make me feel I was beneath her or whatever. I actually thanked her for not laughing in my face.
