  • Thought at first you meant enemies with invisible sprites like Intangr from FFVI and that one rare enemy from FFXII.

But on random encounters and turn-based combat, the mainline entries (the numbered ones) have been progressively more action-oriented and static encounters-oriented since XI afaik. Though on combat specifically, the first hack and slash (not counting non-mainline entries) afaik is XV.

But the series is pretty overarching, so if you check the non-numbered releases, or spin-offs of numbered releases, you get things like RTS (FFXII Revenant Wings), tactical RPGs (FF Tactics), souls-likes (Stranger of Paradise), hack and slash (Type-0, maybe Crisis Core), literal movies (Advent Children, Kingsglaive), etc. And whether enemy encounters are random, depends on the game too.

And lastly, feel free to crosspost the question to !finalfantasy@lemmy.world too, so you can get more opinions. =)

  • Imo if the person moves the responsability to a third party, he should still be responsible for what happens. The wait sounds reasonable to me, as then people can see how responsible the dev or “dev” shows to be towards the project he is managing.

And by that, it allows separating those just using LLMs as additional tools, from “adventurers” (local expression for people that do things without a plan), scammers and asset flip users going for an even quicker buck.

  • Moderation for starting communities is rarely needed, given the lack of posts. But if ever needed to moderate, first and foremost, don’t jump the gun.

Also, on rules, if you don’t make any, still at least imo, instance rules and staying on topic would apply.

And either through those or by making your own, beware those that stretch the definitions of the rules. In such cases, I’d recommend avoiding making new rules unless absolutely needed, else you’d be falling for their engineering.

And not related to moderation, but you can make a community mention to make it easier to find across the fediverse: !over30@lemmy.world (!over30@lemmy.world)

  • Healthy growth is exponential, so while an initial growth may seem like near zero, as it gains traction, it should become visible.

Also if the fediverse is indeed smaller than those it competes against (can’t audit numbers, can’t trust them), thus making the potential users interested in a given topic, still spreading word of the communities or at least their posts elsewhere, like chatrooms, may help bringing people in.

  • Maybe go to !forums@sh.itjust.works and ask where you can find external replacement communities if you can’t find them on the fediverse?

Also, within the fediverse, if you use Mbin, PieFed or Friendica, you can easily use hashtags to broaden the covered topics while an equivalent community doesn’t get made. Just avoid hashtag spam within a same post, please.

And lastly, any project is just as successful as the people involved are interested in building it. The fediverse is a niche within a niche, and neither Reddit grew overnight, its advantage being to be much older. And since Reddit seems hellbent both on self-sabotaging and monitoring people down to their criminal and medical records (exhaggeration but who knows for how long), it may be a good idea to be proactive about building and growing alternatives, instead of feeding Stockholm syndrome for Reddit.
