  • Start by deleting social media from your phone, make it so it’s really inconvenient to get in there.
If you can’t afford to close your accounts then log out of the web brower’s websites and change the password to something randomly generated that you only have on your computer so you can only log in there when needed. You can still access the chats using something like Beeper.

Find things to replace the doomscrolling with. Short simple games that actually help your brain like Tetris, Sudoku, and/or word games - I’ve been really enjoying Blossom Word Search, it’s really calming and satisfying.

Get books that are about topics you care about or enjoy, doesn’t matter how good they are or if they provide any actual value… reading books will help you regain your attention span and reading comprehension skills while keeping you away from screens. You can set tiny goals like reading two pages without getting distracted and then grow it to 5, a chapter, and so on. Put your phone on do not disturb while you read or leave it in another room. Visit your local library, they’re free!

Physical excercise will do wonders for your brain too. I personally love rope climbing in a gym and recently started doing parkour too. It’s a fun way of excercising and building community. Find a sport that calls to you and start by doing it one time a week, even if you suck, we all start somewhere. It’s much easier if you join other people already doing it, look for local groups that practice it. You don’t have to step foot in a regular boring gym.

Anything you do start with small achievable goals and then build them up as that becomes easier. If you get distracted or start going back into old habits it’s ok, just stop and get back to it as you catch yourself. Eventually it’ll become easier.

Oh and do not use LLMs to get answers. Use a search engine like Duck Duck Go with AI turned off. Researching skills are super important and LLMs can really liquify your brain, they take away your creativity and critical thinking skills.

  • idk you seem more desperate than me following these made up rules that aren’t part of either community tbh

This is not my “one opportunity” on this platform, you joined one month ago and I’ve been here for more than a year, also have a hundred more “reputation points”, comments, and posts than you. So I’m not sure where you’re getting my “lack of engagement” from. I ask again, maybe reconsider what’s actually got you in such a mood and stop policing me? Maybe you read what I said but it does no good if there’s no reading comprehension.

Also lmao at “cynical paywalled lesson”, if you go to my website you’ll see I also have plenty of free educational content that goes back years. My blender course was actually started from a blog post I made in 2021, here sugar-cup, made it easy for ya to find.

  • @borosilicate@lemmy.dbzer0.com Wrong again. First: I’m not desperate… When I was teaching those classes through the school a couple months ago they’d get booked full to the point I had to ask the school to give me less students because it was too many per group. Also I’m literally just starting out. This is my first day advertising my classes, you’d know that if you bothered reading the first sentence…

Second: Two posts do not make spam, especially if they’re in different communities aimed at different audiences. Blender is not just for game development, I mention that on the first paragraph of my page.

If you wanna continue being a hater go ahead, give me more engagement on the post 😁

I tried Librewolf but found the restrictions for my own privacy too annoying as it constantly broke stuff and gave me extra work so I went back to Firefox and customized the privacy settings. I know I could’ve done that with Librewolf too but I found it more annoying to work with unfortunately x_x And I have Ungoogled Chrome as my backup

  • Breakfast, depends a lot on the day but a good one would generally have:

    • Just Egg folded (vegan egg)
    • Bread with butter and a slice of melty (vegan) cheese
    • 2.5 or 3 breakfast sausage patties from Gardein
    • Avocado
    • Sprouts or cherry tomatoes

    Some days it’s Soylent. I take B12 and D on a gummy.

Lunch my easy go-to I can eat almost any time:

    • Gardein Supreme Chick’n nuggets (10)
    • Fries
    • Cheeze mozarella sticks (3 - 4)
    • Avocado
    • Microwaved broccoli

    Dinner:

    • Udon noodles
    • Firm tofu
    • Chinese chilli oil with flakes and peanuts
    • Baby bok choy

    Today I had:

    • Swap chick’n inside
    • 3 corn quesadillas with
    • avocado
    • Chinese chilli oil with flakes and peanuts

(Yes, I love avocado, I’m Mexican) While fish does have a lot of nutrients it’s quite easy to get them from other plant sources too :p

  • yeah, the automatic updates made me double think installing Godot from the snap thing but because I always update right away anyway and my game is quite small with only me working on it I thought to stick with it for now; also because it prompts you to save a back up before opening a project with a new engine version. It seems a bit wild to me that almost everyone that has commented here assumes that I use my pc for nothing but web browsing and documents or something… I thought the Linux community (full of tinkerers and developers) would make less of those assumptions than Windows users but it seems I was wrong haha
