I mean you can self host your own local models, a decent computer can run Qwen and at scale it would be much cheaper per token to run servers serving a 120B ish model or even something like Deepseek than it would cost to pay Anthropic for Claude. It wouldn’t be quite as good as Claude but it’s probably good enough for most things tbh

I support the removal of flock cameras but the reality is that surveillance cameras with tracking are probably some of the stupidest devices to try to steal.

You can block traffic from clients that don’t have an HTTPS cert installed which lets you look at their traffic and make installing that cert part of the ohone’s carrier activation process. This is still silly though

I don’t think people should be using it as a replacement for medical devices but it’s a convenient way to collect semi accurate health data if you just want general trends

Smartwatches are mainly used for fitness tracking at this point although I do like my Pebble and Fossil Hybrid watches quite a lot

An acronym can have multiple meanings

BLM = bureau of land management = public land. Anyone can use public land for a wide variety of purposes as long as you clean up after yourself including hosting music festivals
When people complain about high concert prices they are mostly talking about tickets for the huge artists

Congrats you have invented Coachella
The issue isn’t venue price it’s that demand is much higher than supply. Venues can price gouge you when you go to a concert for a huge artist because they know people will pay. A concert organized on BLM land in the desert will still have to have organizers

Yeah so many fantastic small bands charging a lot less for tickets and they’re much easier to find now than in the past. My favorite artist right now charged like $40 for tickets to their most recent tour

There’s an edge redirector app you can get which redieects edge:// links to your default browser

I think it’s because laptop vendors are threatened by the MacBook Neo, which is the first serious threat to PC sales for non tech people who buy the shitty $300 laptops at Best Buy since Chromebooks, which is the majority of the market. Bad press about Windows absolutely will convince people to get one instead of a windows laptop
Linux could also be a genuine threat if someone like Valve comes out with a Linux laptop for gamers or a major vendors starts preinstalling like Ubuntu or Fedora on consumer oriented laptops but I doubt any major vendors would unless they have a serious falling out with MS
I think it’s a lot simpler which is that turns our that pro-AI conservative NIMBY’s don’t want AI data centers in their backyard anymore than they want renewable energy or affordable housing. It’s just another nuisance they don’t want to live near if nothing else.
