That’s appalling, and very relevant.
They frequently give them to gusanos who advocate for bombing their own countries, and they gave one to Kissinger, so I don’t think that matters much to them.
Are you being ironic or
The propaganda got completely wild, but the day to day operations didn’t change a whole lot, it’s just more public now

Science@lemmy.ml•[CW: Animal Cruelty] 370 billion crickets are farmed for food every year. Scientists have discovered they may feel pain
11·4 days agoPain has a scientific definition, right?
Scientifically speaking, pain requires pain receptors, nerves and the like, so trees feel no pain. But the point that other people are trying to make, if I understand correctly, is that plants have agency and can perceive their environment and adapt in a way that’s not too dissimilar from animals, and you may think of the stimulus that causes them to adapt to survive as analogous to pain. Personally I find where we draw lines in scientific knowledge arbitrary at times, such as with some taxonomy, or how viruses are often not thought of as alive because they don’t fit a definition that’s man-made. So I can see why people would say plants may feel some kind of pain, just not the way we do as animals, and that depending on how we agree to define pain it may or may not count.

It’s still transphobic. Less reactionary, sure, but transphobic.
I hear anti-communist nonsense at work sometimes and this is what it feels like. “Commies tried so many times and it always fails!” (literally ignoring coups and regime changes, AES, that capitalism might kill us all, sex trafficking, etc)

Linux@lemmy.ml•Omarchy should not matter. But sadly it does. As a power grab.
2·1 month agoNo one is arguing for the hypothetical that if you’re somehow linked to a nazi by an infinite number of degrees of separation you’re literally a nazi, as that would make the term nazi, calling people out, and so on, useless. Read it in the only way it makes sense: those with the most power, such as big businesses, platform owners, politicians, and so on, have the responsibility not to platform them, definitely not to fund them, not to normalize them, not to launder their ideas or their acts. And regular people like me or (I assume) you, we still have a responsibility not to tolerate nazis. We have a responsibility to call these people out, to protest, to defend those who are marginalized the most, to organize and stop the worst from happening. Because our politicians sure as hell won’t stop them, and big corporations are already showing their hand.

Yes, let’s harass children and let them know their religious background makes them subhuman in the eyes of the state. Brilliant idea.
