Yep, you can say that about any colonial power really. The difference is that we were supposed to be more ‘aware’ of our responsibilities after World War 2 in the 20th and 21st centuries. Yet look where we are.
It’s particularly galling when you have a genocidal, colonialist state which keeps telling us they are the only democracy in the ME, have the most moral army in the world, and that the reason for their actions is that a big Real Estate ‘God’ promised them some land thousands of years ago. All of this will come back at them as their country slowly breaks down for a host of reasons.
Vulnerable people whether with disabilities or elderly and unwell are copping it, everyday people are copping it. This is the lesser of the two evils? I can’t bear thinking what the next lot are going to do.

It just seems so strange but telling that he is saying what he’s saying. In his working life he is meeting with a LOT of men who wield power and status, rah, rah, rah. Still, he can’t see any strong male role models ‘out there’ for young boys. He’s not looking ‘in here’. Why aren’t those strong, powerful men he deals with, and himself, doing more, like speaking up more clearly against the ‘toxic voices’, using their access to a lot of resources, including media and money, to help research and organise projects, support groups, activities, and so on, to provide that modelling and that real connection that boys (and all young people) need?
Let’s whine but do nothing.
