Factorio is still one of the games where I have the most hours put into Steam, and after the crack-like obsession finally wore off I haven’t really looked at it since. I suppose the DLC could be fun, but I already went to space thanks to mods. Will always be a favorite for me!
Proton Drive for photo storage is a horrible experience, though. As someone who has been relying on the free tier Proton accounts for cloud based photo storage for the past year, currently sitting at roughly ~2k files currently that I am very dedicated to keep - How is it a horrible experience?
If your reason to be on an online forum is to discuss, disprove, or change the beliefs of an stranger online, a good idea is to actually try.
If you’re hunting precious updoots with snarky one-line comments that are parroting the ideas of internet culture, then this is not the place for it.
Such a thoughtful, elaborated response. And a emoji included as well, to really capture the feeling of being written by an adult.
Why should OpenAI be held responsible for this particular incident? Because their LLM recommended the user to contact a suicide hotline when he expressed his suicidal thoughts? Because it correctly answered his questions and confirmed that the safety of his shotgun was off? Don’t get me wrong, I like having companies held accountable as much as the next guy, but why don’t you ask the gun production companies to be held responsible as well? Hell, we might as well be asking for his parents to be held accountable for their offspring’s actions.
Yes, LLM’s can, with or without external manipulation, provide information about sensitive subjects, which can then be consumed by vulnerable individuals who may act in a harmful way. That individual would have acted and reached the same outcome not matter if the LLM would have existed or not, because there are multiple options to using an LMM to gather information.
What are the realistic expectations of OpenAI to implement to prevent these things, that doesn’t automatically mean stricter restrictions to the user data privacy and further strengthen the control of citizens (thanks to the flourishing relationship between OpenAI and the American government)?
I mean, There’s also the more direct approach if one wants to give out bribes in return for votes… Remember this? Tell me more about how amazing and just the Western Democracy is.
Can confirm. There was none left by the time I got there.
Wow, it looks so much like a real charcoal sketch, but without the smeared coal on your fingers, so even better! Nice drawing!
That was my thought as well. But apparently they are known for their fast growth —the genera can grow as fast as half a metre a day (that is, about 20 inches a day), ultimately reaching 30 to 80 metres (100 to 260 ft.
So although they may reach a pretty impressive length, they seem dependant on sunlight like a previous comment pointed out.
Plus, you know, being the absolute worst (or best, depending on how you see it) at storing every single piece of data about their users. And ruining YouTube completely, just so they’re able to harvest more data from their users. And… You know, making their money on selling that data to ad companies and shoveling ads on every site they’re able to, and offering their users to pay a fee to avoid said ads, which are used by the advertising company who bought the data about the specific user, which was harvested by Google.
Oh, and turning Android into literal spyware, just to harvest even more data about everyone, so they can sell even more aggressively personal data about their users. And now trying to limit their Android userbase from being able to use apps without the literal spyware that they provide.
So there’s that… But yeah, they do have great marketing, funding a lot of side projects, and donate to charities enough so that their userbase remain gullible enough to think that they “are the best of the worst”. Which isn’t really a hard job given the competition with the current American tech market ghouls at the top, who use other strategies to gain attraction.
You’re supposed to protect ya neck.
Yeah, that might very well be the case. I don’t follow anyone online, which might explain my lack of insight of the different online art communities. Not because I don’t think there’s great art available online, I’m sure I’d find a lot that I liked if I used Instagram, for example. But because I don’t really look for it. The only content I see online is pretty much posted on spaces like Lemmy (or Reddit in the past), like Comic Strips for example. Those spaces typically involves either digital anime drawings, realistic IRL paintings/drawings, or digital comics which often are easy on the eye with the point usually resolving around making a social comment on what ever topic people are upset with that week, neither of which speaks to my preferences. I appreciate the added context!
Thank you! That’s a fair point that helps broadening my understanding of the affected areas for me. I see the issue, but I think it’s more of another example of capitalism stepping in and slimming down the cost/time for optimal profit and thus lowering the quality of the product. I have mostly seen people complain about digital artists, comic artists more precisely (which I a bit foolishly assumed automatically meant “digital comic artists” by default) being replaced or ruined because some kid is using a image generator online. I believe that because of the hate for AI, the online artists (again, my mind went straight to comic artists) in contrary have seen an increase in their fanbase and supporters.
My reaction was to the parroting online trend that has been gaining a lot more attention lately because of the current political environment, which basically seems to be resolving around updoots if you say that AI=bad.
I have been making physical art myself since I could walk pretty much, and I have never once heard of anyone with similar interests evwn mention making stickers for a living. Maybe it’s a geographical thing? I know some where making postcards and selling them on the streets for some beer money, while others kissed who ever ass they needed to in order to have gallery shows and establish themselves in the disgusting art world and make a decent living of their art… But never stickers. I never bothered with trying to make money off it myself, I enjoy painting and making money from it has never crossed my mind.
I’m not saying that you’re wrong, just to make that clear. But given how people will literally refuse to even touch anything that’s been made with AI these days (gaming industry for example), I personally feel that the loud minorities of this online activism of “AI stealing creative work” is digital artists who only have grown their fanbase by a lot from slapping a “human made” note on their work, rather than having their livelihood snatched because of a Ghibli or a Disney generator available online.
Yes, because so many of the extremely celebrated human artists (please support my digital created artwork that is a circlejerk supporting the current popular trends on the internet y’all) have lost their jobs. Can you name one?

And of course, the post is full of Americans trying to justify shit.
