That’s because the technology is socialized and every dog can use it. If only the dog ruling elite were able to tell that, you’d have a dog dystopian police state.
It seems like pouring bleach in the toilet before flushing would fix that dystopia though

2·5 days agoI’ve played all the previous Bloons TD on Kongregate when that site was fire, however seeing it so promoted on Play Store makes me afraid of aggressive monetization, as everything on Play Store seems to be just an ad simulator.

https://www.androidauthority.com/google-sideloading-android-developer-verification-rules-3602811/ps: Have no doubt, every claim Google makes about restricting stuff for your own good is just them lying out of their asses.
So I guess more free open source projects won’t be able to be maintained by overworked volunteers, and they’ll get “rescued” by trillion-dollar corporations that will close-source everything, backdoor the shit out of it, and decide what you can and cannot have.

1·6 days agoAnother thing I noticed, several games that I’m sure I have played are not listed on the apps I had (bunch of idlers and TCG) so this makes me worry about software preservation, since stuff just vanishes… is there a way to backup those games? At least the ones I bought I’d like to backup myself - and no, I don’t care the least about the legality of it.

I love the first person dungeon exploration, it’s sad they didn’t use it on the Genesis games.

1·8 days agoMullvad processes all its VPN data directly in RAM, so it’s constantly rewritten and no data is saved because there isn’t even a disk for it… I wonder if it would be possible for Proton (or any other privacy-focused service) to do the same with all its services. They already don’t keep logs, but in that case they were ordered to keep them because they had the means to do it. If they weren’t physically capable of doing it, what would happen? I don’t think a court could force them to rework their infrastructure just for that (considering how expensive it would be).

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is it better to enable javascript in LibreWolf or switch to a different browser when a site needs it? Does switching browsers help in general?English
3·8 days agoWhy not go for an even more hardened browser like Mullvad or Tor if you are so worried about privacy while browsing regular stuff?
LibreWolf is my primary browser as well, so it’s for daily, non-sensitive, use, so I have JS enabled because, well, non-sensitive stuff, and it’s just a main-online identity, but I do use other browsers for other stuff, and change my VPN when I’m going for other “identity” too.
