I would say that this is not just to blame on the Generation, but to large extents of how stuff is designed these days. It has been becoming harder and harder to control where stuff is stored, and to find it outside of the intended app, and this, IMHO is by design, to wrestle the control of your own device from your hands. Just look at how aggressively Microsoft is pushing one drive in its office suite, they want control over those documents so they can lock you into a subscription model.

Beispiel hier im Kleinen: Kantine einer öffentlichen Einrichtung wird privatisiert. Nach einem Jahr “lol, Inflation!” wurden die Preise um im Schnitt 60% angehoben. Gebäudereinigung ähnlich.

Was die Jünger der unsichtbare Hand des Marktes immer verschweigen, ist dass diese Hand deren eigene ist, die vorrangig aufgehalten wird. Die Ineffizienz liegt in deren Augen darin, dass das ausgegebene Geld irgendwo an zu viele überbezahlte Beamte als Sold verteilt wird und nicht gesammelt bei denen als Gewinn aufläuft.

Seriously, ESC is the least political show on whole of television, they are trying to avoid anything controversial as much as they can, just look at how they handled that Dutch singer who fell from grace. There was zero discussion or mentioning, he was just cut from the show.

Die Energieeffizienz ist aber kein Ansatz, sondern Thermodynamik. Da kann man nichts diskutieren. Und dann spiele ich den Ball mal zurück: wenn bei einem Vergleich zwischen Erdgas und Wasserstoff bei Ersterem das Betrachten der totalen Systemeffizienz angemahnt wird, bei letzterem aber unter den Tisch gefallen lassen wird, erkenne ich auch keine Diskussionsbereitschaft.

Das Problem bei diesem Hochjubeln und Abbügeln jeglicher (wissenschaftlich fundierter) Kritik als “so wird das nie was mit den Energiewende” ist, dass neue Technologien auf Größenordnungen extrapoliert werden, bei denen gar nicht sicher ist, ob das so leistbar ist. Damit wird dann eine falsche Sicherheit geschaffen, “wir haben ja einen plan, ist alles also gar nicht so schlimm!”, und eventuell notwendigen anderen Strategien wird das Wasser abgegraben. Man schaue sich nur die Förderlandschaft in dem Sektor an: in Wasserstoff werden (zurecht) Milliarden gepumpt, die Förderung für Batterieforschung wurde aber kürzlich mehr oder weniger komplett zusammengestrichen. Und die ist bei Weitem noch nicht ausgeforscht. Viel schlimmer noch, die sehr notwendige Säule der Energiewände, den Verbrauch drastisch zu verringern, wird weiter untergraben," wozu soll ich mein Haus dämmen, bald heize ich doch mit Wasserstoff".

Eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit neuen Technologien ist dringend notwendig, und wenn dieser kritische Diskurs direkt in die Ecke der Energiewendegegner abgeschoben wird, wird das ein böses Erwachen geben.

Wasserstoff als Energieträger/-Speicher ist gegenüber Erdgas und Kohle aber ineffizient, weil die volumetrische Energiedichte etwa nur ein Drittel (H2 zu Erdgas) oder ein Bruchteil (zu Kohle) ist. Und die volumetrische Energiedichte ist bei Gasen der wirtschaftliche Faktor, weil es für Transport und Lagerung eben entsprechende Behältnisse braucht. Genauso ist Wasserstoff ungleich schwieriger zu pumpen, verdichten und lagern als Erdgas. All das sind Kosten, die man jetzt auch als externalisiert bezeichnen könnte. Und die Energieverluste beim Verbrennen sind bei H2 und Erdgas nahezu identisch. Auch Wasserstoff fällt nicht vom Himmel sondern ist eine lange Kette an Kosten und Effizienzverlusten…

Ausserdem würde die Energiewirtschaft mit anderen Zweigen wie Chemie oder Stahl konkurrieren, welche Wasserstoff direkt als Ersatz für Reduktionsmittel einsetzen und damit Kohlenmonoxid respektive Koks ersetzen würden. Der Wert ist weit höher als der als Energieträger, d. h. bis die Energiewirtschaft Wasserstoff wirtschaftlich nutzen kann, muss erstmal so viel erzeugt werden, dass die anderen Industrien überversorgt sind und etwas übrig bleibt.

Auch wenn Wasserstoff ein wichtiger Baustein in der Dekarbonisierung ist, ist es leider nicht das “Silver Bullet” das alle Probleme lösen kann, als das er gerne verkauft wird.

I guess every religion old enough has such kind of loopholes. I know from Roman Catholic that there can be made up so many exceptions that the 40 days of lent before Easter books down to a few days of actually fasting. No lent if you’re travelling (commute to work counts), no lent if you have guests, and of course no lent if you are a guest somewhere else. And Sunday is exempt from lent anyways.
