Getting a local security camera setup is kind of a pain but do able. Look into the self hosted software Frigate and go with their recommended brands.

In the US they use Chromebooks, not really any better but they do have Linux under the hood.

12·2 days agoI have notifications on when someone joins and maybe 75% of the time after I see the notification their account is “deleted” because they changed the privacy settings.
It’s not the end of the world but I do wish more people wouldn’t automatically pick the maximum privacy setting so that we could actually, yknow use it

2·3 days agoHonestly the entire notion of caring about “ratings” at all is stupid unless you are trying to sell ads. Reviews are great and reviewing art is an art form of it’s own. But taking a bunch of reviews and smoothing them together and averaging them out in order to pretend you’ve reached some sort of objective truth about how “good” a piece of media is is a stupid thing to care about and will only bring you sorrow and a more shallow life.
This was my favorite fun fact to point out during the NFT hype. Even skeptics would derisively say “you’re buying a jpeg” and I would always say “Ackhually, not even that!”
It’s like if Wikipedia put the expectation of fact checking onto the end user.
Any “platform” that puts 100% of the responsibility to block spam and annoying users onto the individuals is simply miserable. They want a space where they can force their worldview onto everyone.

If you’re using Frigate with docker you could route the container through a gluetun container.
