  • Yes it is flawed, but it was basically “give the 5 largest powers veto power, or they don’t participate”. If they don’t participate, it would be even more ornamental than it currently is.

Ideally they would have more power to stop shit like this, but the UN as it stands is better than nothing. They do bring countries together to talk things through that otherwise might not have and have successfully de-escilated issues in the past.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t expect, or push for, better, and I’m not saying this is your view point, but I do see the sentiment that they’re useless/do nothing quite often.

Walking out won’t ultimately achieve much… But it’s at least better than sitting their and letting him feel validated in his psychopathic plans.

  • Probably depends on the type of company you work in. If it’s a long established one with lots of staff, they’ve probably realised this issue a long time ago and put plans in for it.

If it’s a more modern one that hired a bunch of solid old heads early on, they probably know better from the outset.

In both cases, someone, somewhere will have probably experienced it and said “never again”, so implemented (or improved) release procedures to ensure it doesn’t happen again

A lot of my teams have been on the younger side and for small companies/startups. So everyone either had a recent example to pull from or had first have experience

  • I used to watch her when, as far as I knew, all she talked about was science (mainly physics) news. You know, talking about the thing she actually studied in.

Then one day she did a “capitalism is actually great” video, and spouted a bunch of erroneous neo-lib bullshit. Thankfully most of the comments tore into her, pointing out the logical falacies and out right lies she was parroting.

I only watched a few more vids after that as she seemed to get more and more out of her area of knowledge and saying dumb shit.

I had no idea about the anti trans stuff though. I’d just stopped watching and written her off as the Nth person to be smart in one area and try and apply that to other areas where they have no expertise but think they know more about it than anyone else.

    So yeah, fuck her

  • And the same people who always say “it’s too soon to talk about it” and “let’s not make it political” whenever someone brings up gun control after a school shooting.

Personally, I think they are scared. They took the mask off too far with all of their extreme right wing rhetoric and were probably surprised themselves at his little push back they received. Feeling emboldend they kept pushing.

All of a sudden they realise there might be, the most extreme, consequences from the positions they’ve publicly espoused, and they can’t just walk it back. So they’re panicking.

That, or it’s a conspiracy and one of them did it to give themselves permission to go full fascist.

  • Been a while since I’ve heard about him tbf, but IIRC he jumped on the whole “can’t do comedy anymore because they’ll cancel you” shtick when getting criticised for transphobic jokes/remarks.

I guess his is less offensive and more lazy. Just started rambling like an old man about cancel culture and comedy dying and hisow comedians “speak secret truths” instead of realising that the material wasn’t funny and was offensive and working on improving that.

He’s definitely the weakest example from the list, I’d put him in the same vein as Chapelle actually.
