You have a good point there, English is a quite efficient language (which gets shortened even more, like saying “o” instead of zero) and this maybe leaves less time to think.

Europe@feddit.org•Politicians are letting AI write speeches and laws without telling voters, study saysFrançais
13·2 days agoIn case you’ve missed the Canadian politician reading AI commentary out loud without even realizing it
Edit: also isn’t “prompt” the input. How is he reading the ai prompt, that’s not correct news.com.au with 1.4Msubscribers
Is that it, is this idiocracy? A drooling politician absentmindedly reading AI in parlement while a journalist comments it by simply using words which are frequently paired, without thinking about the meaning?

5·18 days agoYoutube is about the last Alphabet service I knowingly use (except when someone shares a google doc).
I thought you meant no Youtube at all. I use Freetube and Newpipe almost exclusively.
Peertube too, when the instance I use to follow channels works (the two previous ones closed). It’s a pain to subscribe to stuff. Maybe with RSS feeds…edit: I’ve been subscribed to Kagi for a while too, maybe going two years. Love it. Wish it was cheaper
I really liked Qwant maps, a good use of OSM, but the idiots closed it…

7·19 days agoHow do you do that? I would love to be able to avoid YouTube. I could go without the entertainment part of it, sure. But no more tutorials would already be a big pain. And then there are the news sites with embedded videos. Even the state uses it.
YouTube has single handedly almost nullified my degoogling project

I really liked it. From what I understood it’s part of the Alan Wake universe, should I play it ? I tried the beginning of the first one but it seemed a bit too slow/story driven for my taste.

1·26 days agoOSMand is clearly made for hiking and other sports. Pretty much a must have. I use it all the time.
Certainly not for driving though. For example it considers every trail as a road, and tell you to take a left when really right is a tiny dirt road.
They should remove the car option to avoid more confusion.

20·30 days agoIt’s one giant database with different filters for each website.
Other than privacy concerns, I dislike the consumption aspect. I see them swiping and it looks like they’re shopping. I know some people have found meaningful relationships on Tinder, but I can’t get over it.
I wonder if so many using it almost as the default way of dating makes it harder to find someone for those who want to avoid it.

Privacy@lemmy.world•NeoSearch: Open-source, ad-free, private web search now open sourceFrançais
2·1 month agoIt’s fast, polished, really quite impressive. Maybe too AI-centric for my taste, and yet I like how the results are presented, and they were quite relevant at times… and bad too. For example I was searching for chatons.org (software) and it only gave me results for kittens* (chatons in french). While recognizing I was in France but giving all answers in English.
I wonder though, if I want to search something simple, say I forgot the exact URL of a website, how much ressources are being wasted explaining what the website does instead of simply giving me a link?
I like how Kagi does it, when I need a short AI answer I add a questionmark to my query.
I’ll keep testing this, it looks very promising. Best of luck to you!
*And the AI saying kittens are hairless at birth? I don’t use google so I assume this is the type of answers it gives, man that’s terrible

I’m the opposite in a way, I tend to look for a specific word and when I can’t find it right away it can make for awkward pauses in my speech. I’m working on it.
But when I was younger, sure, tons of filler words. It gets better
