I think these polls are good to put our opinions on the public record.

The trick is that so much is tied to our employment, including health care. Wanna start a ruckus and get fired? Cool, you’ll lose your health insurance and the cancer will kill you. It’s not like the company down the street is any better.

But we think you’re a genius!
Well I can eat a whole Hot and Ready on my own and then do a minute-long fart the next day.

Thanks for taking a second to research that. Maybe my search results are skewed for some reason because i double checked before posting that comment. Weird. I’ll think about it more.

Everybody always goes on and on about how great linux is for gaming pcs these days. I recently poked around online to see if my rtx5070ti would be supported and found a bunch of people facing issues, and that Mint and Ubuntu weren’t recommended.
I dont want the AI nonsense, and Windows/Microslop blows, but I want my new gaming laptop to work correctly for several years given the money I spent on it. I can’t see making the switch when the gpu support is so convoluted.
Ive had many Linux machines in the past, so that bums me out.
Edit: someone should make a webpage that automatically reads the hardware and specs of your windows machine and then creates a table of suggested distros. That table should also include “what you’ll lose” that shows which features will become lost or finicky. And it should also include direct download links.
If the goal is to have morons like myself adopt it, it needs to be basically fool proof and easy. Linux is much better and easier than it was in 2003, but that doesn’t mean it’s two-click easy.

Not cringe, but cliche yeah.
I also have noticed the trope of Crossword puzzles being a sign of brilliance/intelligence (Brooklyn 99, Stranger Things for example). Let me tell you something – i do multiple crosswords daily to keep my hands and mind busy, and i’m a friggin moron.
The Zero G sex in the first episode of The Expanse was fun and memorable.

Half inch thick. Cuts by scoring a couple few times with a utility knife. After installing, I had to move my line 9/16" away from the dartboard.
I laid out the fabric and got it tight with wood working clamps. Cut my board to size, sprayed the board with spray adhesive and laid it gently on the fabric. Then i folded and cut the excess fabric around and stapled down the back.
Im sure there’s a cheaper material than Homasote that would work, but my board hangs on a door that goes into the living room, so the sound barrier was a nice bonus for me.

Really ends up being an allegory for life, eh?

If only Brian Dennehy would listen to him, so many deputies’ lives could be saved.

I just can’t imagine how hard life would be to be illiterate. And me knowing me, id take it upon myself to learn to read if the educational system and my parents had failed me – I truly believe that. Is illiterate/partially illiterate a result of low IQ in every instance, or whats going on there?

The problem is our brains are now conditioned to want quick hits of entertainment and multitasking so businesses can cram as many adverts into us as possible. As a longtime adult, I feel it. Even with feature length films, not just books. I cant imagine how programmed the “youths” are, having grown up in this short attention span world of today… Its gotta be even harder for them to fight it and read a book or watch a movie from before 1996.

Just force yourself to do it for one hour twice a week, and it should spark something. It does for me.

Read “Project Hail Mary” … It was an easy, quick read, and really enjoyable.
“And then there were none” (formerly “Ten little indians”) by agatha christie is a another easy, enjoyable read.
There are book communities on the Fediverse that could help motivate you to read.
No, that’s still bad because it conflicts with religious values.

Maybe OP is overall opposed to military and war. I don’t know, but that would be an argument.
I am opposed to both, but so long as I have a 401k, my money is being contributed to/invested in things I find deplorable, so it’s a little weird to me to pick and choose. Overt shit on unnecessary services like spotify would be an easy place to make a stand, but it’s likely overall unhelpful. Evil gonna evil.

I don’t know that one. Use it in a sentence that’s between three and seven words long.

It’s not a lost word like dotard, but ive always liked referring to him as braggadocios. People don’t say that word aloud much at all.
