Right, but if you turn off auto startstop then turn the ignition off and on again, auto startstop will be on again. You can (pay someone to) mod the ECU to have auto startstop off by default. It’s not super common though.

I agree with most you say, just two things: red car teleports from right to left of the prius, and auto startstop is a software feature and can literally be flashed to be off by default.
