This was one of the reasons I went to kinoite. Part of leaving Windows was to get away from all their slop… The other part was to get away all the forced updates. I don’t wanna be forced to update if I don’t want too

Funny: Home of the Haha@lemmy.world•Chicken ordinance in Clearfield Iowa
7·7 days agoSeems like a council that is trying to say yes but also make sure the other side feels heard and protected… unless this is a town of 10 in the middle of no where it seems reasonable to me… I wish this was my council at times

4·11 days agoI have KDE on two of my computers but don’t really understand what you’re talking about. I keep reading though about the awesome paneling KDE has.
Can you explain more what you mean or give a link that explains? Maybe my use case is too basic but I don’t use anything beyond what I ever used in windows and I feel happy. However people talk about this all the time so I really want to learn

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Reddit shadow banned and banned every new account I tried with a VPN.
9·12 days agoSame… Banned my account of nearly 20 years. Still to this day no reason or email why. Then every account I made was banned presumably because I used alias emails on a VPN.
So I find myself here.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you distance yourself from your country when it doesn't represent your views anymore so you won't be viewed by the rest of the world as part of the problem?
1·14 days agoI used Israel as an example else where in this thread. Definitely a polarizing situation and easy to understand not everyone there agrees with their government.

6·16 days agoFor many people once they leave their home country it becomes very obvious they don’t belong. For example, I left my home country almost 2 years ago and where I’m at now I stick out like a sore thumb. I left my country because it wasn’t someplace that represented who I was. So now that I’m in a new country everyone is aware of my existence.

21·16 days agoIf only history was that simple… I get what you’re saying and generally don’t give a shit about what people say but there are a few countries you could list right now where people would be in grave danger else where in the world. For example if I was Russian and found myself in the Ukraine… if I was Israely and I found myself in Iran…based on most comments in Lemmy… if I was from the US and stepped out my front door haha… but hopefully you understand what I’m saying… life isn’t that simple.
as an electrical engineer who consults for utilities and worked directly for them for about 10 years I can tell you this isn’t directly the case… meaning they didn’t raise rates to force you to use cloud services.
Now what might have happened realistically is the data center is using so much electricity, the utility doesn’t have that kind of capacity available so they have to raise rates to mitigate the difference in energy usage and to also raise revenue to build more infrastructure.

Technology@lemmy.world•Spammers are flooding Reddit with fake posts designed to show up in AI search resultsEnglish
4·26 days agoI just thought about this… They made it so hard for me to make an anonymous account I moved here. The AI accounts have more tools at their disposal to get around this and have more incentive to so they stick around. They’re little going to fill their site with bots while getting rid of a good portion of their human uses because of their shit practices.
Further when you sell out to using you data to build AI models what do you expect to show up after?

52·1 month agoYou’re a strange dude… You seem too want to craft an entire legal system around one perceived problem and are completely ignorant to the huge number of problems that would create… This is hurting my head reading this nonsense so I won’t be continuing this conversation. Good riddance
