Some will cheer, some will be mildly disappointed. But I’m out, I think.

    We do already have that the @w3c@w3c.social who have done many things including run / maintains HTML, CSS and other things like SVGs created ActivityPub one of the main protocols that the Fediverse uses.

    Bluesky is sadly not using the same system that we use, but there is a bridge for that if you wanted to interact with that slop fest.

      Good to know. ActivityPub is great and all, but I guess what I was trying to say was for the threadiverse specifically it seems like the two options are piefed and lemmy. There might still be mbin but I haven’t heard much about that. But each one is maintained by very few developers, who as a result have a large degree of influence over the direction these platforms take. Hence the issue here with piefed adding unnecessary quotas.

      And yeah bluesky sucks, I tried it a couple years ago and it was full of engagement bait. I’m not really into the microblogging format anyway though, but if I was I would use mastodon
