I agree 100%. The US and Canada are extremely individualist and capitalist in this regard, and they blame homelessness on the people and not the systems that created their situation. Sentiments like “well they’re just too lazy to work” or “it’s their fault they are addicted to drugs” are common, and people have been convinced that it’s up to individuals to “work hard” so they don’t end up in bad situations, instead of realizing that basic needs should be provided communally. If individuals can easily attain their basic needs, they will then be able to better contribute to their society.
It’s just capitalism, idk, it’s not logical, it’s just selfish and greedy.
