I have mixed sour cream with Marmite to make it spread more evenly over banana, and the taste is… not good. The salt overpowers all other components. It’s even worse than plain Marmite banana, because you can actually taste the banana before Marmite diffuses over your tongue. The best combination was cream banana without Marmite, to no surprise.
Marmite cream oat cookie is a surprising discovery. The overpowering saltness of Marmite is balanced by the overpowering sweetness of the oat cookie, the same way salted caramel works. I don’t think the cream is even necessary, you can rub Marmite on the cookie’s hard surface much easier than on the soft banana.
I, for one, am glad someone is brave enough to try these things so that others don’t have to. Thank you for your sacrifice.
If you like Marmite, you’d probably dig Nutritional Yeast without the extra additives to make something similarly tasting.

Have you tried the peel with Marmite?
Banana peel is just not good. If it was a tangerine peel or even a lemon peel, then maybe.

Good luck! I just grabbed what was lying around, and it happened to be a cookie. Next time I’ll probably fry peanuts with Marmite, but that recipe is already widely known, so it’s kinda less exciting.
Yeah, very true. And it’s not bad at all. Maybe not great, but definitely an interesting and repeatable combo. Does okay with peanut butter too, on a sandwich, as long as you go super light on the marmite.
