If Chinese companies really are unfairly competitive because their government backs them, how about Western governments back their own electric car manufacturers? Instead of just making other products more expensive…

Welp, I guess my family will just carry on not being able to afford an electric car then. When it comes to the environment Canada is all talk.

Canada has inked deals worth billions of dollars to bring in top European automakers in all parts of the EV supply chain to bolster its manufacturing heartland.

If they make a trap with a fake car manufacturing company as a bait, Stellantis would surely come to eat it and Canada could grab a tentacle or two of it.

The west keeps moaning that the way China develops their industry isn’t fair, but the actual question is what prevents other countries from doing the same. The whole argument for using the market as the allocator is because it’s supposed to be more efficient than government planning. Yet, here we see that western countries aren’t able to compete with China on price and quality of products. It’s as if the market model the west keeps peddling is being proven to be far less efficient than state driven central planning.
