It’s blatant extortion now.

When the President of the United States says this shit, is it okay now to say - as a Canadian - that I wonder why more Americans aren’t trying to kill him yet? Like, what the hell is going on? HE IS GOING TO GET US ALL KILLED.

Do you expect the average American to just be able to stroll up to him with a gun and shoot him? We’re literally a police state. He’s got secret service watching him. It’s complicated, and if somebody was successful they would be throwing away their own entire life guaranteed.

Give me a gun and a strategy to get close enough and I would gladly sacrifice my life. It’s THAT fucking important at this point.

Nothing changes until people are willing to put their own lives at risk.

For what? Another will take his place. There’s no shortage of people pushing for project 2025 and supporting his political policies. It’s not just trump.

Then you do the same to the next one. And the one after that. And the one after that. Until someone gets up there and decides he/she doesn’t want it happening to them too.

The point isn’t that there’s “going to be another”…that’s just defeatism. The point is to make them realise that they will NEVER be safe. That there are people willing to do anything to see them strung up by their ankles in a town square.

            Courage is contagious.

It’s not defeatism, at all, it’s the recognition of an ineffective method of resolving things. Real life isn’t a movie where things just work out when you do stupid shit.

                History disagrees with you.

No despot in history has ever fallen without violence. Hell, your own, country was built on that fact.

At exactly what point did America go from “the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of patriots” to “this is an ineffective means of resolving things.”?

Political violence that will make change will be larger scale and organized, not individuals trying to kill a bad president, or two, or three.

Those two attempts failed. Now he isn’t on the campaign trail and he has the world’s best security. The only people that can take him down are an army at this point.

I would think no, but considering that I posted the article, I’d leave it for other mods to act on if necessary.

A bit of a grey area to me as it’s just wondering, not actually suggesting.

There HAS to be news that’s not being covered about shit like this. I refuse to believe that in a country of nearly 400 million people there aren’t a few with good sense

My pet conspiracy theory is that there’s already been multiple attempts since Butler, but they aren’t being publicized because they don’t want to encourage others.

i agree. it’s probably starting to get a bit hotter now that all those teslas are burning up. maybe they’ll just start arresting protesters. Oh, they deport them now? Oh, they’re terrorists now?

do americans even know what the words “terrorist” or “patriot” or “democracy” even mean any more?

I think they think it’s futile, since bullets didn’t work. But we have other means. Like remote controlled flying things.

I’m just really really disappointed in Time. Like, you had ONE JOB.

I won’t mention on the “bullets didn’t work” comment. But have you ever heard the word “yet”?

The guy is threatening to annex my fucking country. If you have problems with me wishing harm upon your self-proclaimed conqueror, you can eat my leaf. (not you specifically, of course)

Trump seems to like Napoleon’s quote that “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.” And while I don’t want you to get hurt, it seems that an executive action from your new PM would be saving his country from a foreign threat.

Again? Like Iraq? Like Afghanistan? Sorry, I’m not pissed at you. But, like, what the fuck? At least people are setting Teslas on fire there now. That’s a START.

    • I think it’s just because people still have hope that the systems will work as usual and right the ship. I think a lot of people are waiting to see what happens with this administration’s reaction to court orders, etc. But I think that we’re going to start spawning radicalized reactionaries soon.

i like your reply. i’ll take it a step further. i grew up in the US south of the M-D line. What follows are just my personal thoughts:

Americans are busy, and most of them are far too busy to spend the kind of time that i get to spend online reading and learning about this stuff. a lot of Americans (and people in general) don’t like school and didn’t do well in school. and teachers don’t get to do what they want to do. it’s all so fucking frustrating. why does America kill its education budget for the sake of advertising the military during football games?

oh, and by the way, you need to rename that to something like “Americaball” or something. Someone truth Trump.

anyways, people are by and far too busy to care about anything more than soundbites now, and he’s the bullshitter in chief. when you have a couple of kids and work 12 hours every day just to keep the collectors away for a while, what time do you have for protests?

i guess it would be tenable if we still lived in communities, but now we’re all too smart to go to church… and this is a whole new thought, but we need to all start going to church. they’re pumping out little evangies, so we should subvert the church. make church god again!

We need to guarantee payment to whoever steps up, and make sure that their family is looked after for life.

The Luigi who saves us all will be hailed as a hero around the world for decades. World leaders would congratulate them for preventing countless needless deaths, and future dictators won’t fuck around for very long before finding out.

sorry for the 4-day delay. teslas are now ablaze in america. i love the way this is all moving. we won’t be stopped. look at the numbers. what will it take to convince their foot soldiers that they’re being fucked, too? in that - ironically - i have faith in Elon Musk.
