Yeah, like others have said, play them in order starting with 1. If you play them backwards or out of order, you aren’t very likely to finish the first one, maybe the second, the first is kind of a slog, but worth playing. This way they just get better each time you go to the next

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Massive Pokémon Fan Game Site Taken Down Without Warning Via DMCA
2·2 years agoNintendo has kind of always sucked as far as passionate fans are concerned. Their products are some of the best out there, sure, but they are ruthless.
Playing devil’s advocate, they’re just protecting their IP. Problem is they can’t spend resources or time figuring out who is or is not profiting from their work, so they just stamp out all the bugs in the house that get big enough to be noticed. I guess, I really don’t know.
Mint was my first used, was straightforward and easy to get going. Still use mint.
I’ve always read it doesn’t really matter what distro you choose, just to pick one you like. That’s confusing to a noob because they don’t know why they should or shouldn’t like a specific one.
Mint is very simple to setup and works very much like a windows PC by default. Can even set it up to work like a Mac if you want to.

Politics@beehaw.org•House Bill 500 Takes Away Kentucky Workers’ Lunch and Rest Breaks and Cuts Their Pay - Kentucky Center for Economic Policy
3·2 years agoFunny the sponsor of this bill is the president and owner of a lawn and landscaping company. I imagine he’s probably mad he has to pay his workers fair wages and just wants more money in his pockets.
If a company hires you and you live 90 minutes from a job, that company damn well should pay for your trips. You can agree not to, and that’s fine, but workers should expect to be paid for long commutes which are work related.
I spent 3 hours on the road 5+ days a week for 8 years and never got a cent for it, and when my vehicles crapped out the companies didn’t give a crap.

You’re exactly right. I didn’t read the article yet, but you can build a to do list app in a handful of minutes if you know your way around. I’m still green as a coder, but have been through dozens of tutorials, one of which was a simple to do list in JavaScript. I managed to complete it in about an hour. Seeing that someone thinks it takes weeks to do, that makes me wonder about them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How to read this Landis & Gyr electric meter?
4·2 years agoI live in a rural area and don’t have any nearby neighbors to ask. My wife has said that a lot of people have been complaining about it on Facebook though (locally)
I have been in the same boat. I have no friends, but a wife and kid. Life sucks a big one, especially work and the work-life balance, and finances, etc.
The only thing that helps me is medicine. I’m on a cocktail of Dextroamphetamine for ADD, Lamotrigine for Bipolar Disorder, and Propranolol for anxiety. I’m still far from 100%, but I’m in the more positive side of the fence.
Talking about problems can help a lot of people, and that’s great to have a therapist, but it doesn’t work for me. Talking about stuff doesn’t change my circumstances, neither does my mindset. Definitely discuss issues with a doctor and medicate. Nothing else has helped me deal with the shit in life.

2·2 years agoThose are dispensers; you put the item you want to dispense (water bucket) inside and when activated, they dispense. If activated again while containing a bucket, they will “grab” the water and store back in the bucket

Pretty terrible. After a year I finally got a job, but it’s probably one of the worst possible jobs for someone like me who has ASD and other issues… Call center for military benefits. But I have to do it.
Severely disappointed after spending so much time learning web development, and it was for nothing it seems. On the bright side, my training was paid for…

Gaming@beehaw.org•I made a boat elevator for Minecraft Bedrock 1.20
2·2 years agoThat’s faster, easier and more efficient than this boat elevator! During the development process of the elevator, I did have a block switcher at the bottom which would swap a stone block for soul sand when the elevator was activated and the boat would rise very quickly (I didn’t have to put a delay in like with this one.) It would also descend more quickly because the dispensers were faster. It was VERY noisy, though, because when you’re on top of a bubble column it constantly makes splash noises

Gaming@beehaw.org•I made a boat elevator for Minecraft Bedrock 1.20
2·2 years agoIt goes down faster because the wiring is one way, bottom to top. So the water gets picked up starting at the bottom going up, and the last one just drops the boat at the water fall speed

My son has had access to an iPhone 6s and iPad 2 since he was 1 or so (7 now). His devices have always been moderated to prevent him from seeing inappropriate content whether by accident or on purpose, and as he gets older I ease up on the restrictions. We have had little to no issue with him being attached to the devices, and my opinion is because he had mostly free reign over his usage barring bedtime. Even to this day he prefers to be outside playing.
I’m sure we’re all familiar with getting something we all wanted later in life than most people. We get super attached. I did get my son an Xbox one rather late (he had wanted one for at least a year before he got one), and he is attached to that. Because he spent a good amount of time dreaming and fantasizing about it.
My son is also high functioning autistic, (as am I), if that means anything. But this is my parenting style. Allow freedom within reasonable limits to promote individuality, unlike my parents. He sometimes watches the dumbest stuff on YouTube, but we all did and do. It’s not up to me to mold his sense of humor, I just make sure it’s appropriate for his age. Regardless if I think it’s dumb or not. I’m not 7 anymore.
