I think actually on the programming side, we’re in a fairly good spot. I really think that AI will be a tool and it will make people more productive. I think that vibe coding is great for getting into programming. I think it’s gonna be a horrible thing to maintain. So I don’t think programmers go away. You still want to have the people who know how to maintain the end result. I’m a huge believer in AI. I’m not a huge believer in the things going on around AI. I find the marketing and the market to be sick and twisted, and there is going to be a crash, and it’s gonna be ugly.

Anything I don’t like is slop
I wonder if maintainers will start using AI coding tools more quietly, if the internet doesn’t have enough nuance to distinguish experienced people using Claude vs idiot tech Twitter using Claude.

Is there a reason mods can’t edit the title of a post? I’ve found myself wanting this behavior when I’m moderating.

11·3 days agoOk, but like honestly if GitHub kicks off my project then I can just move to another hosting platform. I would be mildly pissed that I lost the stars oh my repo. And then I would be minority inconvenienced that I have to find a new place to run my CI pipeline. I feel like there isn’t that much vendor locking with GitHub. Nothing they do is that unique.

91·8 days agoI’m really enjoying my vaporizer. Confusingly named because it’s very different that a vape. Basically you load real weed into it, not oil, and it heats its just enough to get you high without smoking. Feels much healthier on the lungs than a regular joint.
I can guarantee you that Blorp has the best support. The Blorp dev will read any and every post/comment that mentions “Blorp”.

Ahh there are some limitations with embeding loops videos specifically. Still you should see a link out to the video that opens the loops.video website. Seems like it might be more broken then that, so I’ll look into it.
Hi I’m the developer behind Blorp. If you link me the post where the video isn’t showing up, I’ll see if I can fix it. Thanks for using Blorp!
Blorp dev here. Let me know if you need anything!

Sorry I kinda chaotically respond to everyone and sometimes I mix up someone who has already left feedback. I forget where you left your feedback, but just make sure it’s in GitHub (if it’s not already) and it’s much more likely to get addressed. I’m going to try and burn through the entire backlog of issues this month.

100% agree, but does your average Lemmy user know the difference between vibe coding vs actual coding using some AI tool? Is vim being vibe coded or are the maintainers just using some AI tools?
