politics @lemmy.world•Democrats Are Trying to Disqualify Trans Candidates. Here’s How
14·3 days agoThe Democratic Party is really two groups in a marriage of convenience: the Progressives and the Centrist. The only reason they haven’t split is the first past the post election systems used in the majority of the country and the fear of splitting the vote. The Centrists, unfortunately, seem far more willing to backstab a Progressive with momentum than the other way around.
I got this game on a 3-in-1 CD, bundled with Sim Isle and the OG Sim City. I already had Sim City, but it was a much older floppy release that, I think, was only in black and white. The Sim City on the CD was in color and came with some extra scenarios and tile sets.

Technology@lemmy.world•Telegrams t.me domain put on 'Server Hold' effectively disabling it worldwide.English
55·5 days agoThe .me top level domain is nominally the TLD for the country of Montenegro, but in practice, it gets used more for its English meaning rather than for that country. The same thing happens with Tuvalu’s .tv TLD.

Finding the second one is a real “Where’s Waldo?”. If you hadn’t said two, I wouldn’t have noticed the one back row.

7·9 days agoSurprised it didn’t go to overpriced. I’m sure the station was swimming in fines after that.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•All shows used to be like that
11·10 days agoThe only modern show to approach that was 20 episode Prodigy seasons, but those were 1/2 hour episodes (less without commercials), so it works out to be the same amount of content as a 10 episode Strange New Worlds season.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is using an ssd as a cache to speed up a harddrive still a thing?
12·17 days ago10-15 years ago, Apple had a product built around this concept, the Fusion Drive. It was one physical device containing both types of storage that appeared to the user as a single drive. The OS would decide what files when on which storage medium based on usage. Unfortunately, it’s been long enough that they went to all SSDs all of the time that Apple is removing support for it in this year’s OS release.
