I picked up Pikmin (Gamecube) when my first child was an infant, so my parenting skills were always intertwined with those little idiots.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does most of the US blame Saudi Arabia for the 9/11 attacks? Al-Qaeda may have been trained there but that doesn't make Saudi's responsible does it?
11·2 months agoAl-Qaeda trained in Afghanistan, Sudan, and had ties to people in Pakistan. 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi, although 3 of the 4 pilots (who were the leaders and apparently the only ones who knew the plan was a suicide mission) were not Saudi; those were from Egypt, UAE, and Lebanon.
In the immediate aftermath, as details first came out about the identities of the hijackers, there was a lot of anger towards Muslims in general and Saudis in particular, especially after it became public that the Bush administration had allowed several members of the Saudi royal family to fly out of the US while all US airspace was supposed to be closed. In the intervening years, whether because of active rehabilitation efforts by the Saudis or by wider acceptance of Al-Qaeda as a pan-Arab organization, I feel like that anti-Saudi sentiment has cooled.

3·2 months agoI thought it was interesting that the headline came from Sky, which was a News Corp company under Rupert Murdoch and known for being biased towards Trump. I didn’t know they were bought by Comcast in 2017, and apparently are planned to be spun off rather than be included in the purchase of NBCUniversal to Larry Ellison via Paramount.

Since 2020. Covid broke a lot of brains. Once people started driving again, it’s like they forgot (or rejected) all the rules. Bad behavior that I rarely saw, like blatantly running red lights, aggressive driving, using turning lanes as passing lanes (even through intersections) went from rare to daily.
