Remember the GOP “tea party” and the rise of MAGA? The establishment GOP like McCain, Romney and all the big-government neocons complained about Trump not being “presidential” and tried to criticize/hold back the rise of fascism/alt-right populism for fear of losing GOP voters to extremism. The conservative voters and right-leaning independents went along with it, because the alt-right candidates were saying all the hateful things they wanted to say out loud. They were spouting the same self-hating, bootstrap trickle-down far-right capitalist garbage they wanted to hear. The were saying the thing the establishment GOP wouldn’t dare say.

The same thing is happening on the left. Except we have guys like Hasan, who are decent people exposing the hard truths the establishment Dems dare not speak. They push actual leftist policies that the younger Dem base wants. They’re not bought off by big corporate or AIPAC money. And candidates with similar sentiments to Piker are going to sweep the Dem ticket, because they speak to what the base observes with our government.

Awesome, have them put Hasan on too. Both of these guys have the backbone to say things the establishment Dems dare not say.

Being that the capitalist class views everyone else as expendable ants, and values property and wealth over human life and dignity, 20% doesn’t surprise me in the least. If we include narcissists in the mix, the figure probably goes substantially higher.

The bizarre part is my dad doesn’t hate any particular group. Being a boomer, I wouldn’t say he’s openly accepting of lgbtq+, but he wouldn’t disown me or my kids if they came out. He’s Puerto Rican and they are often very economically conservative and pro-capitalism. He’s identifies politically as an independent and if a leftist has a good idea to his judgement, he’s for it.

He actually cringes and shakes his head at some of the stuff Trump is doing. But conservatives feel some compelling need to vote red no matter what.

He’s one of those people that say, “I had to bust my ass to support my family, I was miserable working 14 hours a day sometimes, so that’s what it takes to be successful and everyone else should have to do that too.”

A perfect example of an oxymoron. Core libertarian ideology espouses completely open borders and international trade without government interference.

They’re not libertarians, they’re just another version of big government neoconservatives that sympathize with fascists.

Assuming we do have free elections at the time, nah. MAGA has been whittled down to about one-third of the voting bloc. They’ll get decimated by populist progressives. Establishment Dems will also get wrecked in the primaries.

He’s not charismatic, he just spouts hateful fascist ideology that hateful fascists crave.

None of these guys are. Elon “Nazi Salute” Musk, Rupert Murdoch, Zuckerberg, Thiel, Bannon, Bezos, and the entirety of Trump’s cabinet. They are social idiots and have zero charisma.

Unfortunately, he voted for Trump again in 2024. He’s a reasonable guy with a lot of things related to politics, yet still blames Obama for health care costs. We agree on things like how Newsom is an incompetent governor and is too spineless to call out Israel, and he’s all show. We’re both anti-government unions ( I argue it creates a privileged bureaucratic class that abuses public funds for pensions, and puts a tremendous burden on the state budget), but pro-private unions (ones that aren’t bought off by the establishment). I don’t get it all, it’s frustrating AF.

The rest of the world stating we should do something are still leveraging their economies against the US Dollar and investing capital in our economy. If you want to help stop all of this, just cut us off completely. Stop trading with us, too. This regime can be brought to its knees by destroying the US economy and the rest of the world will no longer have to deal with the consequences of this bullshit.

So lets all buy nerfed AK47s, AR15s and handguns. What do we strike first? City hall? Do we try to break into heavily fortified military bases? Travel sometimes thousands of miles to DC to wave weapons around and get mowed down by automatic gunfire, heavy artillery and tanks? Fight against the national guard and the entire police force? Get flanked every time by satellite surveillance? What or who the hell do we even go after first? Trash our own neighborhoods, which is what usually happens during periods of civil unrest?

Any brilliant military commanders want to coordinate this uprising and prepare an army five million strong for urban combat and gueriilla warfare? Hannibal Barca? Che Guevara? Are you there to help us accomplish this in one month?

All we have is acts of targeted political violence as an option. No one is stepping up to be a Luigi that ends up in prison or dead, because people usually care about their own lives.

This is why I blame the DNC equally for where we’re at now. Biden should’ve bowed out after two years, we should’ve gotten a primary for 2024. They completely screwed over the younger base, who were still pissed about what they did to Bernie in 2016. Biden won by narrow margin in 2020.

So I was using Elon Musk’s terminology there… it was his justification for allowing neo-Nazis, white nationalists and any alt-right ideology taking heads to spread hateful ideology and misinformation without consequences on social media (X).

Like, all people should be able to say anything they want, whenever they want, without consequences.

I think there should be restrictions on that kind of nonsense. If someone just spouts racial slurs and makes prejudiced comments, that’s just being an asshole. But if you’re suggesting that certain groups should lose their human rights based on differences that aren’t causing physical harm to other people, that is hate speech and should absolutely be shut down by the law… with at least a fine and obligatory classes for re-education and critical thinking.

If your blaming specific marginalized and vulnerable groups for things they aren’t doing via generalizations, and using that as justification to take their basic rights, same thing.

These people agitate others in times of cyclical economic difficulties and use that as a lever to gain power. It is not rational discourse that contributes anything, it simply contributes to the deterioration of societies and human rights.

While that may sound a bit authoritarian to some, ALL governments use authority to restrict the behavior of its citizens. Where that line gets drawn is up to the citizens of that government. And I think it’s overdue for the line to be redrawn. We should be hunting down right wing fascist hate groups and suppressing them out of existence.

I hope they treated you exactly the same as all the brown people they’ve targeted, bigot.

This is why I’m not longer a free speech absolutist. Some people should not be given a platform to broadcast hateful ideologies or have access to power. Impressionable people fall for fascist rhetoric and no amount of reasoning will get them to change their mind.
