And if there’s one thing I definitely don’t associate the CIA with, it’s trafficking in drugs to fund itself with off-book money.

It meets their needs and preferences, simple as that. I tried Arch in like 2008, and thought people were crazy for all the trouble it took back then. Nowadays there’s a lot of nice distros built on it, so you can get the benefits (such as they may be) without all the low-level tinkering.

Me personally? To enjoy it. What that means changes as I age, but I get immense pleasure from my relationships (I love hanging out with friends and family), I get a lot of satisfaction from helping others, and making people laugh. I’ve got some hobbies as well, and I like to travel to new places when I can. I try my best to keep my actions aligned with my principles, which leaves me with a generally clear conscience and positive self-image. I could never possibly have all the experiences that might interest me, so I cross my fingers for reincarnation, but otherwise feel I could die without much regret.

Check out Yunohost. In my experience it is way easier to setup and manage than docker. I’ve been using it for years and it continues to improve and add more supported software.

My problem is I’m always rocking an old thinkpad, and I don’t want to “waste” any good stickers on something that could break at any moment. Better leave the stickers in a drawer.

I was alarmed by this post, but after reading the linked text, I am not worried. I certainly understand the distaste for AI, and I share much of it. However, the approach here seems very sensible and the proof will continue to be in the pudding.
