It’s a reasonably priced gaming pc designed for couch use and pre loaded with a couch friendly os. As someone who prefers to game from her couch I can totally see myself weighing it if I was in a position to not miss the money and to take advantage of it. Especially if I think of when I did my last major pc upgrade.

Left libertarianism is great and serves as an effective counterbalance to many issues. Right libertarianism is often foolish at best and rarely includes the freedom to do things like live your life as you please

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Scott Galloway on the masculinity crisis: ‘I worry we are evolving a new breed of asexual, asocial males’
4·2 days agoYeah I worry about the number of men who are growing up to be real weenies who really want to get laid but have no idea how to talk to people they’re attracted to or build a relationship. That’s bad, unlike asexual men who merely don’t find anyone attractive.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•‘Heavily intoxicated’ raccoon passes out in liquor store bathroom after breaking in, ransacking shelvesEnglish
9·2 days agoNot really. West Virginians are more stereotyped as uneducated and impoverished. Like you expect some bigotry, but the kind that can be soothed over by a few pies and a couple years of hard work alongside them in the community.
Regular Virginia on the other hand, is stereotyped as a middle class, very white, former confederate state that’s gone swing in recent decades. You don’t expect someone to start saying overtly racist shit because they’re Virginian, but if they do, it’s gonna be bad and you’re not shocked.

18·3 days agoThere are many times you can’t afford a lawyer, sometimes without your finances changing it suddenly switches to you not being able to afford not to get one. This is one of those times.
Lol I was allowed to be anything I wanted when I grew up, and if I picked a type of engineering my family would even consider still speaking to me

That’s fair, but I think it’s vital to frame it internally as you suspecting that there are deeper emotions at play here. At the end of the day the person in question is the ultimate authority on their emotions. A lot of so called empaths see all the deeper emotions that they want to see and more or less ignore what they don’t want or expect to see. Furthermore you’re likely rife with false positives.
Like I’m not discounting that people can observe deeper emotions, a good therapist is able to notice them and lead you to them. But people with hypervigilance often are the ones claiming that they’re “empaths” (ie see and instinctively feel other people’s emotions) and these traits can correlate with the behavior described above.

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Jewish organisation calls for Ms Rachel to be named 'anti-Semite of the year'
18·4 days agoThey really don’t see how their calling everyone an antisemite for opposing their genocide puts Jews outside Israel at risk. Like, there used to be the claim that Israel was necessary to ensure all the Jews of the world are safe through diplomacy, military, and a country that will take them as refugees. But these days they make a clear case that Israel should not exist while ignoring the swastika wavers to focus on denouncing people who believe Palestinians shouldn’t be victims of crimes against humanity.
I’m saddened and grateful I’m not the only one here who associates the term with abusers.

Cambodia and Armenia being at war without major alliance stuff would be fucking nuts.
