  • Well basically Reddit kept doing two things. One, NOT doing anything about blatant botting, dogpiling, and brigading even on huge subreddits. Every thread about certain topics would get over a thousand comments all swinging one exact direction, it was extremely blatant. Any thread about Israel or pit bulls would get instantly brigaded and calling for the death of palestinians/pits in extremely violent ways and Reddit did nothing every time. And two, I kept getting banned for HINTING at fighting back against the current wave of fascism. Not to mention, the API support being killed AND the CEO of Reddit being an Elon Musk simp were also nails in the coffin of it for me.

Plus the environment of people posting constant ragebait was not doing favors to my mental health.

China is capitalism with a red flag, and so is Cuba, and so was the USSR. All failed projects that just returned back to capitalism. The fact you’re trying to argue this shit while coming from lemmy.ml is hilarious. We all know your actual alignment.

China didn’t lift anyone out of poverty. Just like capitalists, they just lowered the poverty threshold. They’re currently oppressing their workers with massive work hours, no choice to join any union that isn’t the government’s, and they still have billionaires.

China is not and will never be socialist. You’re a capitalist with a hammer and sickle.

  • But Batman DOES uses his billions to help Gotham. The problem is that most of his rogues gallery is composed of high ranking rich mafia bosses, and the rest are completely insane individuals (or even sane people who just LIKE being evil for no reason like Scarecrow who literally gasses people until they die of fright just to study their reactions). You can’t possibly think bribing the Joker with a billion dollars would stop him from bombing orphanages, gassing entire neighborhoods, or LITERALLY NUKING AN ENTIRE CITY.

Investing money into Gotham isn’t gonna stop the Penguin or Black Mask from running protection rackets or bribing cops, it won’t stop Poison Ivy from commiting literal ecoterrorism, and it won’t stop Victor Zsasz from gutting people to death with knives, or Deadshot from assassinating people.

Oh, and another thing: the city is actually fucking cursed with evil black magic. That’s not hyperbole. The city literally makes people evil.

Batman only is a vigilante because his work as Bruce Wayne is not enough.

See, this is a problem we commonly see as “tone policing”. You can’t really tell victims of actually cruel people to not dislike their oppressors. You’re showing more of a concern with decorum and being respectable than the fact the people are being oppressed.

I think that only applies to whole groups of people who can’t choose who they are. Some palestinian wishing Netanyahu died is a whole different thing from that same palestinian wanting every Israeli to die. And this can apply to any minority. To me, directing rage to the person directly responsible for someone’s oppression is a completely different beast from directing that rage to an entire group of people who just happens to share one trait with said oppressor.

Besides, I’m not one to wish death on anyone, but if they die as a consequence of their deliberately cruel actions I’m not gonna care.

I mean I think there’s a difference between wanting someone to die because that person is an actual cruel asshole who attacks vulnerable minorities and thinking someone who just wants to live deserves to die because of a slight against you.

A wolf attacking sheep just wants to live, some politician attacking vulnerable minorities because they wanna hide something is a completely different thing. If I hear news about a Nazi dying trying to attack a minority and getting jumped/shot for it I will think “well you FAFO, that’s your own problem”.

Damn, this actually made me stop and think for a bit.

Even against those who are your sworn enemies, reveling on their deaths doesn’t make you anything other than a cruel asshole.

EDIT: Unless those people are actually cruel assholes. I wouldn’t say reveling on their deaths is right, but some obituaries SHOULD be read with great pleasure. Nobody should be called out for celebrating the death of a dictator.
