This doesn’t need to be a religious claim on my end for it to be accurate. Christians in the US only started thinking of Mormons as part of their club because they couldn’t stomach voting for Obama as the Christian candidate over Mormon Romney.

I got my MA at a Christian college. I was one of 2 men on my cohort, with the other 10 of us being women.

Fairly pleasant, TBH.

I worked for a summer camp specifically for kids from some particularly dicey neighborhoods. Every so often I had to go set up shop in those neighborhoods to meet with parents and whatnot. Some guys in a local gang came to talk to me, learned I was there to offer something helpful to their kids, and from then out made sure I and my car were safe whenever I had to be in the area.

Nice guys, at least in the capacity I knew them.

I once went to one of these a friend was in (she was Mary, if I remember correctly).

When they went to stab Jesus in the side to confirm he’d died on the cross, the prop retractable spear didn’t retract, and the Jesus actor screamed something along the lines of “Oh, my God, you really stabbed me!” Curtains closed quickly and stabbed-Jesus was replaced by understudy Jesus.

Understudy Jesus was, notably, much shorter.

At the end of the play, Jesus is supposed to ascend into heaven. He did that, but with stage weights set for the first actor… so his ascension was too fast and he screamed in fear.

Then some poor actor in an angel costume had to try and deliver a serious line about “as he departed, so shall he return.”

It was, without a doubt, the most entertaining night of theater I will ever experience.

Been doing yard work for my grandparents most of the day. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

It’s more that the committee seems to have decided to hire their less qualified friend, but I’d bet money factors in too.

A college I teach for part time posted a full time gig in the department.

I fit every requirement perfectly and then some. I’ve been given a perfect rating on every evaluation I’ve ever had here from both admin and students. My classes tend to fill first because I’m known to be a better teacher than most.

My application was ignored. The job went to someone with an MA in our field (I have a PhD) who has been managing the student success center for the college. She took a pay cut for the role because she wants to go back to teaching.

The dissertation -> book project is a philosophy of technology.

The text book will be for world religions classes.
