Let’s take a concrete example here, one of the most brilliant scientists of all time, that solved the problem of AC electro motors and generators when nobody else in the world could. Nikola Tesla was highly superstitious and would favor numbers 3-6-9, and avoid stepping on cracks in the pavement, and he hated pearls as he thought they had magical properties.

Am I more intelligent than Nikola Tesla was? No of course not. But that doesn’t mean his superstitions were rational.

If you look at larger scale on the countries that are the least religious in the world, you will see that several polls show the Scandinavian countries are among the absolute least religious. They are also among the highest educated, and they score very high on happiness and just about every measure about the quality of society.

On the other end, Africa is the most superstitious and religious continent and also the least educated. Where you can find stories about goats being judged in court, because they think it is a wizard that transformed himself (yes literally!).

Obviously there are also non religious scientists, and all research shows that on average religiousness drop with higher education.

I had the exactly that experience a few years back. I ended up using an older smaller card I had used for our media system for almost a year. That was when everything that could do the least bit of crypto mining was insanely overpriced.
I had a card that got a defect under warranty, but the card cost 3 times as much at that time as I had paid, so obviously they just gave me my money back, which is perfectly legal. I sure hope it doesn’t happen again. Although I could afford it, I would hate to have to pay the current crazy prizes.
